Vigyan
ashram believes school is the best place to transfer technology to
villagers. Vigyan ashram developed a program called ‘Introduction
to Basic Technology’ and ‘Diploma in Basic Rural Technology’. In
these program students are trained in various technologies.

Students participate in various rural
development activities as a part of their training.

Vigyan ashram encourages them to start their
own enterprises based on new technologies.

Vigyan ashram selects technologies developed
by various organization, adopts them and train students on them.

Vigyan ashram also modified many of these
technologies as per local conditions. Vigyan ashram also published
manuals for many of these technologies.

Schooling(NIOS). The program is adopted by following NGOs :

Introduction to Basic Technology (IBT) got recognition from State
Education Dept as a subject for 8th – 10th
std. 28 schools adopted the program , in which training on basic
technologies are given to students ‘one day’ per week. Various
rural technologies are demonstrated on the school campus.
Replication :
1) Lend-a-hand-India joined
hands Vigyan ashram to replicate IBT program in 100 schools in Maharashtra till 2010.
2)
Energy company M/S Suzlon Energy Ltd. Decided to fund 25 school as
a part of their CSR initiatives.
