Nomadic people are always on move from
one place to other in search of their livelihood. Their children move
with them and remain deprived of education. Boarding schools are not
able to attract all children to school due to various reasons. Giving
education to nomadic children in their own lifestyle is a challenge.
Non formal education program like ‘Hamlet
School (Vasti School)
are perceived as a solution to the problem. But quality of education
is always an issue in such efforts.
In this project efforts are made to find
out if use of new technology such as ICT can
give answer to the challenging educational problems of nomadic tribe.
A laptop was deployed on the nomadic camp to provide education to the
nomadic children. Various issues like charging of laptop, suitable
interface for learner, lighting solutions were tried. Various experiments were conducted
for 2 years on various nomadic camps in Maharashtra.
A successful anchored instructional strategy is developed. A package
MEEIT {Marshalling Education through environment using ICT} is
developed.
A system is handed over to organization
‘Bhateke Vimukta Vikas Pratishthan’. Four papers on the research were
published.
