Shortage of energy is
one of the main challenge everywhere. Many villages still have to spend
nights in the dark. Kerosene lamp are still used at many household.
Nomadic people, who are always moving from place to place in search
of livelihood. It is not feasible to provide them lights using grid
power. Bigger solar panel are also not feasible due to transportation
problem. LED consumes less power compared to other alternatives.
Superflux bright White LEDs, Because of their low energy consumption
their charging is possible by various methods.
Under DST funded project
Vigyan Ashram developed kits for small scale LED lamp production.
Following circuits are
standardized and developed :
i)
Emergency lamp
ii)
Small LED torch – 9V
iii)
LED light strip
iv)
Torch – 6V
v)
Battery charger
vi)
Torch – 1.5 V
vii)
LED lamp – 230V AC
viii)
LED DC lamp – 12V
ix)
LED DC lamp – 6V
x)
LED DC lamp – 9V
xi)
Mobile charger using bicyle dynamo
A manual is prepared and
available online. So far 40 technician trained in manufacturing of
LED lights.
Dissemination:
Vigyan Ashram is
collaborated with M/S Thrive, Hyderabad
to manufacture LEDs. A model for manufacturing LEDs on franchisee
basis is being developed.
