Vigyan Ashram is trying to generate electricity locally
using dungless biogas. Idea is to develop complete energy chain from
production of feed, producing biogas, running a generator and
distribution of electricity. This is an attempt to develop a model of
producing electricity locally, on small scale, and consume it within a
short distance.
The modest 5 kW generator would be run
for 8 hours a day. The electricity would be utilized to run the
engines, the water pump, and to electrify the hostel campus domestic
lighting, at Vigyan Ashram, Pabal, Pune.
Status : Vigyan Ashram modified the
petrol genset to run directly on biogas. A simple scrubber to remove
impurities in biogas is also in development.
